Fall Skincare

Fall skincare can be tricky. The warm season isn’t completely over but there’s a definite cooling of the air. Just like our wardrobes now is the time to layer. Making sure there are a few layers on the skin will go a long way to having resilient skin from summer to fall.

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!

Now’s the time to start adding more water hydrating serums like hyaluronic acid and aloe based serums. As the weather gets colder and less humid more oil is also needed for our skin, so adding a few drops of oil into your moisturizer at night can really help to nourish skin. Nourishing the skin properly is so important after a lot of sun in the summertime. The Divine Women Gel Serum is a great hydrator.

Changing your moisturizer is also essential. Fall skincare demands a moisturizer that’s little heavier to help skin cope and also give your skin something different to experience. It is ideal to mix up your products at least twice a year so skin is getting a variety of nutrients. Just like our bodies our skin likes variety, you wouldn’t eat the same thing everyday and neither should your skin! Try Roccoco Blueberry AGE Moisturizer.

Post summer is also a great time to keep up regular exfoliation. Sunscreen and sweat leaves a build up on the skin that can now be exfoliated away. Doing an exfoliating mask a couple of times a week for a couple of weeks is a great way to get smooth skin again. Pumpkin enzyme masks are great this season and matches all your other pumpkin goodness.

Fall skincare demands adding in lip balms and eye creams, if you weren’t using them already. Just like your moisturizer you might need something a bit thicker for winter. The skin is thinner around the eyes and lips so they are the first places to dry out and need more moisture.

Improve your environment to complement your Fall Skincare routine

Adding humidifier to your home, especially the bedroom will keep your environment humid enough so skin doesn’t completely dry out over night. When we sleep our skin rejuvenates and trans dermal water loss (TWL) is at its peak. Sleeping can really dehydrates our skin and bodies, so adding a humidifier will help combat this water loss.

Don’t stop drinking the water and applying the sunscreen. To keep up good drinking habits when it’s cooler drink a big glass of water as soon as you get up, before coffee! This will replace what hydration you lost over night. Sunscreen is still important and our most anti-aging product. Make sure you’re still applying some version of sunscreen everyday, depending on the climate you live in, southern climates will need to carry on like summer, but in the north office workers could get away with the spf in your mineral makeup. Adorn Cosmetics has an amazing range of mineral makeup that is a great addition to your Fall skincare and doesn’t leave your skin looking cakey and flat.
